Backyard Grannys on an award-winning granny flat streak

In August, the team received the Granny Flat of the Year Award from Newcastle Master Builders Association Housing Award and this was followed up in October with winning the Affordable Housing Award at HIA-CSR Hunter Housing Awards.

Backyard Grannys Director, Alex Mitchell, said that the caliber of entrants is always high in these awards and the judges are well-respected within the industry.

The Master Builders Association held its Excellence in Building Awards on 25 August 2017 with over 150 entries in a range of categories. Their awards aim to encourage, promote and recognise best practice in building and to establish benchmark projects for contractors to emulate.

The HIA-CSR Hunter Housing Awards were held on 21 October 2017, with the goal of acknowledging the talent of the designers, builders, suppliers, and manufacturers who construct quality new homes.
