[Backyard Grannys Director](https://www.backyardgrannys.com.au/our-directors/), Alex Mitchell, said that the caliber of entrants is always high in these awards and the judges are well-respected within the industry. “This makes winning the awards even more meaningful,” Alex said. “We have really high standards for everything we do, whether that is the project planning stages, the actual build, or communication with our clients. We are always striving for the best outcomes in all areas.” “To be recognised with two different awards lets us know that we really are on the right track,” Alex concluded. The Master Builders Association held its Excellence in Building Awards on 25 August 2017 with over 150 entries in a range of categories. Their awards aim to encourage, promote and recognise best practice in building and to establish benchmark projects for contractors to emulate. The HIA-CSR Hunter Housing Awards were held on 21 October 2017, with the goal of acknowledging the talent of the designers, builders, suppliers, and manufacturers who construct quality new homes. Backyard Grannys are proud to be the leading Newcastle granny flat builder and since launching in 2011, have built over 400 granny flats across the Hunter, Central Coast and Sydney regions.
