Speaker 1: Alex, Founder and Managing Director, Backyard Grannys
Back in 2011, we were completing a lot of commercial work at the time and a bit of residential work as well.
One day a lady called us up and asked us to build a granny flat. I didn't even know what a granny flat was at that time. Now more than 1,500 granny flats built. I'm so proud of what we've achieved.
At the heart of Backyard Granny's has always been innovation. Whether that is in the design sense and trying to refresh our designs and come up with new ideas and innovative ideas, or whether that be on a process level, we're always reviewing what we do, how we do it, and trying to find ways to be better at what we do.
We want to be able to help as many people as we can and needed that fresh look and that fresh feel and make sure that it matched our ambitions of where the business was going.
Speaker 2: Sarah Cook, Chief Creative Officer, Headjam
Backyard Grannys came to us with big ambitions. They really wanted to help more people build their dream backyards.
As a company, they also wanted to spend time focusing on designs and finding new ways to maximise small spaces.
When we met with them, they walked us through their customer journey, and we were able to see how much time and care and customisation that they offered for every single build.
And we saw the potential to turn their brand into something that had that same sense of endless possibilities.

It is really fantastic to be leaders and to be involved in something where you get to see the end product and you get to see the difference it does make in people's lives is really special.
