A Sydney granny flat to cater to the experienced investor

Michael wanted to achieve a rendered exterior finish to match the principal dwelling. Backyard Grannys researched a number of rendered polystyrene exterior products, which deliver excellent insulation qualities and provide a perfect finishing surface. The product chosen was an NRG board system which was finished with a Dulux acrylic render, a far superior product to traditional cement based renders. The colour match that we achieved for Michael was a perfect match with the existing house and most importantly the value of his real estate has definitely been increased, well beyond the investment.

Along with helping Michael achieve many other well-considered design outcomes, we also worked collaboratively with him to design and create a dwelling that has proven to have strong interest from tenants. This strong level of enquiry allowed him to select a high quality tenant, who is now paying above average rent.

The modern finishes were carefully chosen by Michael to reflect the light filled spaces. Michael had a particular feel in mind and our range of high quality designer fittings and fixtures were able to deliver.

The highlight for visitors is the light bamboo floor colour chosen and the complementing kitchen splashback tiles. Both of these came from our standard range of interior materials, reflecting the ability of the range to cater to a wide and varied clientele, as well as producing impacting wow- factor aesthetic outcomes.

By listening to our client we were able to align all of Michael’s strategic investment requirements and still deliver the project on time and inside his budget constraints. Backyard Grannys have also ensured that both Michael’s short term and long term interests have been protected and enhanced, without sacrificing one for the other.
